MY LIFE AS A MOVIE

Narrative: CHEYANNE
Author: CHEYANNE DRYSDALE

I believe that my life would make a good movie because many crazy things tend to happen to me. (Or so I think!) I also think it would make a good movie because it would be interesting to look back on how I grew and how I have overcome certain challenges within my life.

Some key scenes I would adapt would be my birth, all of my graduations, and all of my accomplishments.  These would be relevant because they show strong points in my life, and they are also all coming of age points. I would also adapt negative parts of my life because although they were pretty embarrassing, they show me overcoming obstacles that I never thought I could.

I would leave out embarrassing moments, such as petty mistakes that I regret because I would not want people to see those. I would also leave out the boring parts because they are unnecessary and I would want people to be interested, not bored!

The target audience would be teenagers because I feel like at this point in my life they are the ones I can relate to the most. Adults would be a target as well because many things in my life have revolved around my parents, so they could relate to my parents more than they could to me. A lot of things I do probably would not make sense to most children, so I don't think that would be a good idea to let them view.

The setting would be here in Canada, in a home similar to my own. I'd try to keep it as close to my life as possible, because I don't want people thinking negative things about me. It would be sincere and real, something not many movies are these days. I would want someone who looks very similar to myself so it would be more believable. I would get a kick out of this.

I would want Quentin Tarentino to direct it because he has always been my favorite director, as he has the tendency to over exaggerate things and make them outrageous. I would make him do this in the most believable way possible to make my life look THAT much more interesting.

The music would be popular upbeat songs from today's charts because this is the kind of music I like. Alot of people like this music too, and many times I have found myself saying "hey I want to see that movie because the soundtrack is amazing." I know many people think this way too. Examples of genres I would include are: rap, pop, electronic and easy rock. (they are my favourite).

An example of my crazy life!

PROTEST SONG- CHANGES BY TUPAC

                                                              "Changes"

[1]
Come on come on
I see no changes. Wake up in the morning and I ask myself,
"Is life worth living? Should I blast myself?"
I'm tired of bein' poor and even worse I'm black.
My stomach hurts, so I'm lookin' for a purse to snatch.
Cops give a damn about a negro? Pull the trigger, kill a nigga, he's a hero.
Give the crack to the kids who the hell cares? One less hungry mouth on the welfare.
First ship 'em dope and let 'em deal to brothers.
Give 'em guns, step back, and watch 'em kill each other.
"It's time to fight back", that's what Huey said.
2 shots in the dark now Huey's dead.
I got love for my brother, but we can never go nowhere
unless we share with each other. We gotta start makin' changes.
Learn to see me as a brother 'stead of 2 distant strangers.
And that's how it's supposed to be.
How can the Devil take a brother if he's close to me?
I'd love to go back to when we played as kids
but things changed, and that's the way it is

[Bridge w/ changing ad libs]
Come on come on
That's just the way it is
Things'll never be the same
That's just the way it is
aww yeah
[Repeat]

I see no changes. All I see is racist faces.
Misplaced hate makes disgrace to races we under.
I wonder what it takes to make this one better place...
let's erase the wasted.
Take the evil out the people, they'll be acting right.
'Cause both black and white are smokin' crack tonight.
And only time we chill is when we kill each other.
It takes skill to be real, time to heal each other.
And although it seems heaven sent,
we ain't ready to see a black President, uhh.
It ain't a secret don't conceal the fact...
the penitentiary's packed, and it's filled with blacks.
But some things will never change.
Try to show another way, but they stayin' in the dope game.
Now tell me what's a mother to do?
Bein' real don't appeal to the brother in you.
You gotta operate the easy way.
"I made a G today" But you made it in a sleazy way.
Sellin' crack to the kids. "I gotta get paid,"
Well hey, well that's the way it is.

[Bridge]

[Talking:]
We gotta make a change...
It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes.
Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live
and let's change the way we treat each other.
You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do
what we gotta do, to survive.

And still I see no changes. Can't a brother get a little peace?
There's war on the streets and the war in the Middle East.
Instead of war on poverty,
they got a war on drugs so the police can bother me.
And I ain't never did a crime I ain't have to do.
But now I'm back with the facts givin' 'em back to you.
Don't let 'em jack you up, back you up, crack you up and pimp smack you up.
You gotta learn to hold ya own.
They get jealous when they see ya with ya mobile phone.
But tell the cops they can't touch this.
I don't trust this, when they try to rush I bust this.
That's the sound of my tool. You say it ain't cool, but mama didn't raise no fool.
And as long as I stay black, I gotta stay strapped and I never get to lay back.
'Cause I always got to worry 'bout the payback.
Some buck that I roughed up way back... comin' back after all these years.
Rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat. That's the way it is. uhh

[Bridge 'til fade:]
                                                       Some things will never change

-"Changes" was written by Tupac Shakur in 1992

-Tupac Shakur was connected to the African American Civil Rights movement because it was in his blood.
Ever since he was born, he attended rally's and protests with his mother, Afeni to put an end to all of the social injustices that black people faced back then. Afeni was a member of the Black Panther Party, which
explains why Tupac was so heavily involved in the black community and sincerely believed in encouraging changes. The song "Changes" was written to address such injustices such as, racial profiling, poverty, racism, and police brutality. Through this song, Tupac provided an inside look at the lives of black people everywhere. Tupac makes a reference back to the African American Civil Rights Movement, saying how this movement was supposed to bring about changes- but in the song he states that he "sees no changes." Tupac also makes correlations between issues, such as being poor, and being black. "I'm tired of bein' poor and even worse I'm black." He then explains how poverty creates crime. "My stomach hurts, so I'm lookin' for a purse to snatch." On top of making these connections, he explains why the black community has a hard time over coming these issues. He goes on to say that certain changes cannot happen because too few people are willing to give up their individualistic ways. The song "Changes" is stating the importance of unity in the African-American community so that they can overcome the social injustices that face them.

-This song, if interpreted correctly can really make a difference. However, simply listening is not enough. In order for these desired changes that Tupac dreams about, we must be the change we wish to see.

-This is one of my favorite songs because of the message he is trying to convey. There are not many songs written today about the more important issues, such as the ones Tupac very often spoke about in his songs. When I listen to it, it makes me feel confident that maybe one day, the world can change for the better and put an end to issues such as racism and poverty.

-If I were to write a protest song it would probably be about poverty. I really like rap music, so that's the genre it would be.

What Makes News?

JODI ARIAS

Arizona woman charged with killing boyfriend tells jurors she had abusive childhood, contemplated suicide

-fox news

"Throughout the trial, defense attorneys have tried to depict Alexander as a liar and cheat who told Arias and other girlfriends he was a devout Mormon saving sex for marriage, while in reality he was having sex with multiple women, cheating on some with others. Prosecutors have portrayed Arias as a jealous ex-girlfriend who couldn't let go of Alexander and stalked him for months after their breakup until finally snapping and killing him."

-By identifying Alexander as a bunch of crazy things, and then refuting the argument we get the notion that he was in fact not insane, but just a typical guy. However, when the writer goes on to talk about Jodi, he leaves it one sided. She was a jealous girlfriend who one day snapped and killed him. They do not attempt to justify her actions the way they did with Alexander.

Jodi Arias' Domestic Violence Expert Tells Prosecutor to 'Take a Time Out'

-ABC NEWS

"Martinez's aggressive style of questioning experts put up by Arias' defense team paid off when he got psychologist Richard Samuels, who diagnosed Arias with PTSD, to concede that he probably should have readministered a test once it was determined that Arias had lied."

"The effectiveness of Martinez's fiery approach was less certain in dealing with LaViolette, a woman who has spent her life helping domestic violence victims."

"LaViolette lashed out at Martinez as he raised his voice in frustration when she dodged one of his questions."
"If you were in my group, I would ask you to take a time out, Mr. Martinez," she said.

-Through this article ABC news attempts to continuously make Jodi Arias and her defense look guilty. Obviously overwhelmed at Martinez's attempts to break them, Laviolette behaved like a frustrated guilty child would when being punished. Things are not looking so good for Arias.

Is the Jodi Arias jury exhausted?

-hlntv.com

This is a clip from a news broadcast.

-Throughout this video they make Jodi look guilty by saying that her jury is tired. When they say this, they mean that they are tired of fighting. Exhausted of thinking of ways to reclaim her innocence. At certain points in this clip, whenever Jodi's face is on the screen they put slandering words over her. Words like "stalker" or "the worst thing that ever happened to Travis." Also, all over the website, they have different articles about the case with pretty direct titles, such as "How Jodi Killed Travis."

Brand Name Things I Would Like (LOVE) To Own

One brand name thing I would DESPERATELY like to own is a Mercedes-Benz, or even a Cadillac Escalade. Both of these have been my dream cars for as long as I can remember. There is just something so beautiful and intriguing about them- that and anyone who drives them is considerably more than well off. Maybe that's why I want one so bad....

Mercedes Benz- black on black Mclaren SLR

If I had this car, the first thing people would assume about me would be that I am RICH. Filthy, stinking rich! I would have absolutely no problem with this- I would let them take pictures standing beside my car, if they really wanted. I would probably offer, too. Since they would assume that I am rich, they would more than likely also assume that I am of the highest classes of society, very classy. They might also think that I am famous. Again, no problems here. They would probably get other notions as well, ones that are not so good. They could assume that I am a stuck up snob, or maybe even a drug dealer. With that much money... who really knows?
I know they would assume these things about me because even I do the same
. Whenever I see someone driving an extremely nice ridiculously expensive car I almost always assume that they either come from an extremely wealthy family, they are famous, or just a drug dealer. I know I shouldn't think this way but I cannot help it. For all I know, they worked their asses off earning that money! Just like I plan to do. I cannot help but feel this overwhelming suspicion that one day I will reach my goal and own BOTH cars! Could you imagine..?

I find it very interesting how this company has fluctuated between targeting female and male audiences. Not much has changed with their advertising since they decided to switch to male audience. It has always been the standard 'guy in cowboy hat.' Sometimes the pictures suggest that these are to be smoked by a rough male audience. Other times they suggest that females may smoke them as well. I believe that they have gone back and fourth between audiences so nobody feels discriminated against- they want as many buyers as possible and therefore must reach out to both sides. This is smart, as many products these days tend to hold some sort of bias in the gender community.

CRACK OPEN A COLD ONE- MOLSON CANADIAN VIRAL AD

http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2013/02/06/molson-canadian-ad-viral_n_2631017.html

The Ad above is an advertisement for Molson Canadian beer. I found this ad one day when I was on one of my other social media websites, called StumbleUpon. The Ad is directed at well, Canadians, and generally anyone who enjoys a good beer. By speaking of this interesting yet unknown person who thrilled just about everyone the night before, they captured the viewers attention by making them want to watch to find out just who this intriguing person was. As it turns out, this character was CANADIAN! It was smart of them to include a variety of different ethnic backgrounds, as it made the commercial that much more appealing to them as well as us Canadians. Maybe they felt if they did not somehow incorporate more diverse racial backgrounds besides Canadians, it wouldn't capture their attention the way it did. I thought they did a very good job on this commercial, as it made me really want to crack open a Canadian and embrace this side of my culture. Good job, Molson!!

MEN IN BLACK 3

After breaking out of a maximum security prison base located deep in outer space, Boris the Animal decides to go back in time after the man who arrested him- Agent K. When this happens Agent J realizes a little too late that his timeline has been changed and something really wrong has happened to Agent K. After going back in time to solidify his concerns, Agent J realizes he was right. It takes a while to convince young Agent K what is going on, but eventually they begin to work together. They receive help from the alien that helped Agent K protect the world so many years ago. After they eliminate Boris the Animal, Agent K learns a secret that Agent K never told him, which perfectly wrapped up all three movies.

The political issue that the movie seems to be addressing would be the threat of an alien attack. Even though many people do not believe in extra-terrestrial beings, the thought alone is intriguing. The main theme of the movie is revenge. It does contain many more - friendship, heartbreak, time-travel, and coming of age. A very important message that the film is trying to send is that you should never judge a book by its cover. We can observe this in two ways. In the film, everything appears normal on the surface- it is only when the agents go into their headquarters we are able to tell that aliens exist. Another way we see this in the film is when we find out that Agent K had been a different person many years ago. Agent J continuously asks K, "damn K, what happened to you? Something really bad must have happened to you." We learn that Agent K had been there when Agent J's dad died protecting him from aliens as a child, and this is why he is so cold and distant when they return back to their normal lives.
Agent K is the typical secret agent, cold and distant and walks around with a chip on his shoulder. If classified, he would be the “bad cop.” Agent J is the youngest out of the two. He is very hip, has a great personality and an even better sense of humor. He is always poking fun at Agent K. Obviously he would be the “good cop.” Agent K's role supports the plot perfectly, as we learn what has happened to him to make him so bitter. Agent J's role also supports the plot, as we learn why him and Agent K are so attached to one another despite being complete opposites. The stereotypes were intentional- if things were any different the story would not have come together the way that it did.
Since this was a sequel film from the 90’s, they were expecting those same children that are now adults to watch.  Even though it would appear this movie is strictly for younger boys, we can see that the intended audience for this film would be families. This is evident through the overall writing of the film, and also the message of importance of family at the end. The film was very successful in its appeal. I would recommend this movie to anyone in a heartbeat. I would gladly do so, as it conveys an overall powerful and inspirational message.
I thought the film was amazing. Like I said, the way they tied up the 3 movies was perfect. This is saying something, because I usually do not enjoy sequels to movies. Everything made perfect sense that once did not, allowing former fans to have a peace of mind knowing that this movie has ended on a PERFECT note.
